My Family Christmas Letter

PERKINS’ FAMILY 2008 CHRISTMAS LETTER

We wish to send you God’s blessings and good tidings during this Christmas season. We know that your past year probably has been just as eventful as ours so we would like to share a little bit about what has been going on in the Perkins household.

This May Shannon graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University of Fullerton. She is working hard at Bubba Gump as a server and will be returning to school this coming spring to become a nurse. You might have seen her riding around on the back of her boyfriend’s, Jeff, motorcycle.

Crystal has been working hard towards her degree in American Studies and will be graduating this coming May. She is looking forward to moving to the Bay area afterwards. She and her boyfriend Derrick celebrated his graduation with a degree in History in June along with their three-year anniversary in August. Don’t worry we will let every one know when wedding bells will be rung.

Eric joined the Air Force in July and the family was able to go to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas to watch his graduation in August. We are all so proud of him for serving his country. Eric was able to come home and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with the family. Afterwards he and Marta drove out to McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas where he will be stationed. He sure is happy to be done with training and tech school.

This year our family suffered some heartache with the passing of Rich’s
mom, June, who passed away this August at the age of 86. She has gone to meet her Lord and to join her husband and son. We all will miss her but we know that she is now at peace.

Rich and Marta have both been keeping themselves very busy this past year. Marta continues to work hard at the church doing the finances and is on the council. Rich has been working on the preschool board and helping with various aspects of the church. Both continue to volunteer with the Epiphany organization, which is a prison ministry that works within the California Youth Authority located in Chino, California. Rich also celebrated his 60th birthday this June.

As the year comes to a close we are all reminded of the continual blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us. We pray that we find you and your family as greatly blessed as we have been. May the Lord’s grace and blessings be with you all in the New Year.

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’ Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.’”
Luke 2:8-14
